Favorite Classic Book

And the winner is:   Tess of the d’Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy.  This was a hardTIEbookmemebutton decision – I have read so many wonderful classics.  But this story has stayed with me ever since I read it in high school Literature class.  I loved the book then and I love it now.  A sad and poignant tale of love and life gone awry, Tess is a woman of indomitable spirit who perseveres through great tragedy and heartbreak.  An innocent girl is thrust into one difficult life circumstance after another and manages to get through them while maturing into a woman.  But when her past finally comes together and she has no choice, she does the unthinkable, commits murder and is executed.  If you’ve never read it this book is well worth your time.
