Post from Writing Wranglers and Warriors on being prepared for writing – check it out!
Like many cooks, writers need to prepare their piece. Whether writing a book manuscript, news story, or magazine article, a writer puts ingredients together to make an intriguing story people want to read (or at least you hope they want to read!)
Stir together amazing characters and a fascinating plot for a book … or an interesting subject matter for a news story or magazine article.
Whip in fascinating dialogue, great quotes ….
Then simmer (put away for a time)…
And lastly stir (edit) ….
Result: Tasty manuscript! (although I wouldn’t recommend eating the pages!!)
Preparation leads to greatness … or at least to attempted greatness. Just a chef prepares ingredients for a fine meal, writers too must prepare.
