Favorite Book of All Time

Standard

TIEbookmemebuttonIt’s the last day of the 30-day book MeMe.  I thought I’d be relieved but I’m a little sad. I’ve really enjoyed revisiting the books I’ve read in my lifetime and there are so many that I didn’t include!  Books have always been a part of my life.  My mother started reading to me when I was a baby and by the age of 2 or 3 I could recite most of the Mother Goose Rhymes.  I love getting lost in a good book.  It takes me to another world, an escape into a place where I can observe and interact with all the characters, celebrate their joy, feel their pain, try to solve a mystery, or learn how to do something.  Picking just one book is nearly impossible for me.  There are a few I’ve read over and over and will continue to revisit.   There are some I put down because they didn’t interest me and weren’t worth reading.  But if I have to pick just one favorite it’ll be (drum roll please!) A Girl of the Limberlost by Gene Stratton Porter.  I absolutely loved the books by this author when I was growing up.  They took place in the midwest so I could identify with the surroundings.  Ms. Porter’s characters are memorable and the story lines simple but refreshing.  If you haven’t ever read anything by this author I suggest you do so – her books are a treat not to be missed!

What’s your favorite all-time book?  I’d love to hear your thoughts!
